1. Working languages
AXONE's standard working languages are German, English, French, Italian and Spanish. Other languages may be supplied upon request.
2. Text formatting
Unless otherwise indicated on the order form, texts are delivered in Word. We can also provide texts in Excel, PowerPoint and other standard software programs. On request and if possible, texts can be converted into other formats.
3. Cost estimates and orders
Orders for translation, proofing or editing services must be submitted in writing, by e-mail, fax or post. On request, Axone provides a binding cost estimate prior to order confirmation. However, Axone reserves the right to modify such cost estimates if it deems it necessary. In this case, Axone immediately informs the customer.
An order is only valid when it has been expressly accepted by AXONE. If the client does not indicate a delivery deadline, the order will automatically be executed chronologically, i.e. in order of arrival.
If draft texts are submitted for translation, any changes or additions will be treated as additional orders. If an original is modified after the translation was begun, changes to the translation are billed according to the hourly rate for text revisions (see 4.2).
If the text includes a significant number of complex or unusual formulae, tables and other numerical presentations, which must be retyped, there will be an additional formatting charge (see 4.2).
4. Tariffs
4.1 Translation
Axone employs a variable billing rate system that is adjusted according to factors such as the difficulty of the text and the language combination. The base tariff will incur a surcharge in the following cases:
Urgent and Priority jobs (delivered the same day or as quickly as possible) are jobs with a deadline that requires the translator to work in the evening after 6pm, at weekends or during holidays. Increase: +50%
Time-consuming texts (e.g. handwritten texts or texts that are difficult to read or contain complex formatting, are increased by agreement
There is a minimum charge of CHF 80.- per job. Each target language is considered a new job.
4.2 Revision and Proof-reading
Proofing is billed at CHF 150.- per hour or according to a preliminary cost estimate.
4.3 Editing and copy-writing
Editing and copy-writing is billed at CHF 220.- per hour or according to a preliminary cost estimate. We apply a special rate for advertisements and multiple reproductions (e.g. TV spots, posters, etc.) by agreement.
4.4 Formatting
Standard formatting includes six styles (titles, paragraphs, text). Complex formatting (e.g. financial tables in annual reports) is billed at CHF 150.- per hour.
4.5 Legalised translations
Fees for notarised certification of translated texts, or certification by a sworn translator (applicable in the canton of Geneva only) are charged separately.
4.6 Delivery
Texts are delivered by e-mail free of charge.. At the customer's request, they can also be sent by post (Courrier A), fax or on diskette or CD-ROM.
Other deliveries are billed as follows:
Express postal delivery in Switzerland (according to the PTT tariff) plus a handling fee of CHF 15.-
Messenger delivery in Geneva city CHF 20.-
Messenger delivery in the canton of Geneva CHF 30.-
Other special deliveries will be billed at cost plus a handling fee of CHF 15.-.
Invoices are payable within 20 days, net. In the event of non-payment, AXONE reserves itself the right to withhold other deliveries.
5. Cancelling an order
Cancellations must be made in writing and as quickly as possible. Work already done, as well as all related costs and expenses, will be billed to the client.
6. Office hours
Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. Orders received after 4.30pm will be considered as having arrived on the following working day. Our offices are closed on the following dates:
Easter (Good Friday and Easter Monday)
Ascension
Whit Monday
1 August
Jeûne Genevois (the Thursday after the first Monday in September)
Christmas/New Year (from 24 December to 2 January inclusive) Texts to be delivered in the first week of January must be submitted by 20 December at the latest.
7. Legal responsibility and jurisdiction
Although our work is always executed with greatest possible care, we cannot assume any liability for the consequences of any inaccuracies, omissions or errors. Complaints must be brought to our attention in writing, within 10 days of reception. This contract is governed by Swiss law.
The Geneva courts have jurisdiction over all disputes arising hereunder.
